[JAPANTEX 2023] WINDOWS PARADISE – Interior Industry Association [JIIA]/Japan Interior Association [NIF]
Window Paradise, a joint project of the Japan Interior Association and the Interior Industry Association of Japan, was showcased at the JAPANTEX exhibition. The project aims to present innovative window designs and decorations that follow the current trends and themes in the industry.
One of the featured booths at Window Paradise was centered around the hobbies of the older generation, particularly leather crafts and metal sculptures. The space was designed not only as a workspace but also as a display area for the creations. Hanging bars were incorporated to showcase the different types of leather used, while a velvet quilt added elegance to the room.
In another booth, a middle-aged woman decided to venture into live face-to-face video for her home-based online business. Mirrored lights were utilized as windows, and fabrics in her favorite colors were used to create a charming valance. The setup aimed to create a personal theater-like atmosphere that triggers her business mindset.
Moving on to a different corner, a family residing in the green area of Shinshu sought to create a connected space for outdoor living. With the husband working remotely in Tokyo once a week, it was important to design a space that catered to the needs of all family members. Natural linens, sunshades, and rounded windows inspired by Japanese-style rooms were incorporated to achieve a serene and relaxing environment, both day and night.
One aspect that drew attention at the exhibition was the challenge of decorating round windows. The designers emphasized the importance of showcasing the circular shape instead of hiding it. Techniques for decorating arched windows and creating round windows that align with the Japanese style of the room were shared with the attendees.
Lastly, the design team showcased a honeycomb screen made by Nichibay, demonstrating its versatility and functionality. When raised, the screen neatly folds the space within it, and the round window frames remain visible, creating a simple yet soothing ambiance. The ability of the screen to be embedded or lowered by 10cm allowed for a seamless integration into the overall design, leaving behind an aesthetically pleasing silhouette.
Overall, the Window Paradise project at JAPANTEX 2023 showcased the creativity and innovation of the interior industry in Japan. The diverse range of designs and the attention to detail amazed visitors and highlighted the importance of window decorations in creating unique and welcoming spaces.Generated by OpenAI
